Welcome to
KBARA IRLP Node 3957
Internet Radio Linking Project

Your link to the world, if you would please...
Each step is important, so please seek assistance as needed

1.
Visit www.irlp.net to learn about IRLP guidelines
2.  If connecting to a reflector (reflectors start with the number 9),
you WILL disconnect the East/West trunk prior to attempting your connection
3.  Announce your call and state your intention (example:  "This is N1NG for the Bellingham node")
4.  Connect to a node by entering the 4 DTMF tones associated with the desired node (*complete list of active nodes)
5.  Wait to see if the distant system is in use
6.  Enjoy your QSO
7.  Disconnect from the node by announcing your call followed by sending DTMF 73 (example:  "This is N1NG closing the Bellingham node", then enter DTMF 73)
8.  Connect the East/West trunk if disconnected in step 2

"Not a good idea to transmit touch-tone commands without first giving your call-sign.  Not only is this courteous it is a regulatory issue in some countries who may be connected to the reflector."

If you enjoy this node and other KBARA resources and activities, please consider becoming a member.

KBARA public node DTMF command summary
73  -  Disconnects from currently connected link

This  is a collaborative effort on the part of several generous KBARA members and establishes an open Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP) node.  The goal of IRLP is to provide an inexpensive (nearing worldwide) link between amateur radio systems using Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) technology.

The reason for choosing IRLP over one of the other internet-related modes is that it provides a rich amateur radio experience which focuses more on radio operation than Internet access.  Access to, and control of IRLP nodes is dependent upon DTMF signals generated from participating radios.

Thanks to VE7DTT, N7WRQ, KB7WTO, W7OE, KD7DDQ, KG5AO, KE7CBS, and N1NG for encouraging and supporting this project!

For more information on IRLP such as operating procedures, please visit www.irlp.net.

*  Please note:  The node list changes frequently, so if you are using a paper list and receive a timeout error upon your attempt to connect, please try another.  Also, as new nodes appear, you will want to obtain new copies of node lists when feasible.

Please remember some basic ideas:
1.  Announce your call BEFORE you transmit DTMF signals
2.  Remember to pause between transmissions
3.  To prevent Evergreen Intertie system timeouts, please try to keep each end of your conversation under 90 seconds
